Get to know the CLC

CLC is an all-volunteer organization. CLC members include judges, public officials, lawyers, and educators. Our Goals for 2024-25

The Civic Learning Council's goals over the next few years include:

  • Implement teaching of high quality civic learning in K-12 schools and in expanded learning opportunity centers (ELOs), with emphasis on underserved youth.

  • Promote implementation of K-5 civic education in schools and ELOs.

  • Support implementation of required .5 high school credit in civics—a requirement that we helped pass through the legislature.

  • Support civic action programs that give students opportunities to interact with courts and other branches of government at state and local level.

  • Implement strategies to respond to lack of commitment to basic democratic ideals and values.

  • Implement anti-racist strategies to include broadening CLC membership and civic education efforts statewide.

  • Develop and implement legislative strategy focusing on civic education.
